Now day’s you have many options when it comes to the type of shower installation you go for in the bathroom. You can have a shower stall, or go with a traditional tub and shower. The questions you need to ask is what you want from your bathroom, what can you afford and how far do you want to take the project?

The first step in a shower installation is to look at your budget and determine if you can have a nice glass shower stall installed or not. If you’re heart is set on a stall you can go with a cheaper model and use bathroom shower curtains instead of doors, but the look will not be as nice as the clear glass models. Looking at how much room you have may be something you will also need to consider.

Glass Shower Installation Most people deciding on a shower installation like to have a bathtub in the room and if you’re space doesn’t allow for both a shower stall and a tub you will have to decide which way to go. You have to weigh your options. If you go with the shower stall you can’t put in the tub, but if you install a tub you can integrate the shower into it. If it was my bathroom I would recommend going with the tub, for more than one reason.

Shower Installation – Knowing What Your Choices Are

First, they are much cheaper to buy and install than a shower stall. Second, they can be used for either a bath or a shower so you can still enjoy either one or both. Also it is much easier to install the drainage for a tub than it is a shower stall. Most people can handle it on their own where as a stall drain may need the assistance of a professional plumber and contractor. Installing shower stall is a very difficult task and requires skills that most average homeowners just don’t have.

Another thing to consider is how much renovation do you really want to do? A lot of people start out with an idea, but never really consider the costs involved and end up going way over budget. Bathroom renovation projects are scaled form easy to hard.

Shower Installation – Replacing Your Tub and Shower

To replace your bathtub is a fairly straight forward operation, but the construction needed to install a shower stall especially in an existing bathroom is quite intense. In most cases you’ll have to get a building permit and have it inspected after it is completed. Installing a bathtub on the other hand can be done without one in most areas, though I would suggest you check your local building code before proceeding with any renovation work.

In the end you’ll need to decide for yourself. Just remember that if you decide to do a complete bathroom renovation and you have the room and the funds a full glass shower stall with a separate bathtub is the best way to go. It will give you the best look with most relaxing shower experience and raise the value of your home at the same time.

Just remember that elegant shower curtains work great if you don’t have the money to go all out with your shower installation plans.
